Porsche Taycan GTS: Precision and Balance Under Extreme Conditions<\/strong>  <\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Developed to deliver exceptional handling and stability, the Porsche Taycan GTS proved its capabilities in the challenging icy conditions of Lapland. Guided by the expertise of Porsche Experience instructor Jens Richter, the Taycan completed 132 laps in a state of controlled oversteer. Richter navigated the course with remarkable finesse despite deteriorating track conditions, using only throttle and steering inputs.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The first attempt faced challenges due to the track’s rapid degradation under the intense load of the drifting Taycan. After covering around seven miles, the effort was halted. Undeterred, the team adjusted by switching to shorter spikes and taking advantage of the colder nighttime temperatures. The second attempt was a resounding success, with the Taycan GTS achieving the unprecedented 10.87-mile nonstop ice drift, surpassing the previous record of 9.2 miles.  <\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

Record-Breaking Performance at the Porsche Arctic Center<\/strong>  <\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The record-setting drive occurred at the Porsche Arctic Center in Levi, Finland, 93 miles north of the Arctic Circle. A specially prepared drift circle, with a diameter of 193.5 feet, provided the perfect environment for the challenge. The Taycan GTS had Michelin tires featuring one-millimeter spikes, ensuring optimal traction on the icy surface.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

To collect accurate data, the vehicle was fitted with a professional GPS measuring device that recorded key metrics, including steering inputs, throttle adjustments, and G-forces. GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS\u2122 adjudicator Carl Saville officiated the event, verifying the record and presenting the certificate to driver Jens Richter and Christian Lehwald, Managing Director of the Porsche Arctic Center and Head of Porsche Experience and New Platforms at Porsche AG.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The latest achievement adds to the Porsche Taycan model\u2019s growing list of record-breaking feats. In 2023, the Taycan Cross Turismo set a GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS\u2122 title for the greatest altitude change by an electric vehicle, climbing from the Xinjiang-Tibet route to 18,284.1 feet.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

In 2022, Wayne Gerdes completed a coast-to-coast journey across the United States in a Taycan, achieving the shortest charging time for an EV with only 2 hours, 26 minutes, and 48 seconds spent charging. This milestone highlighted the efficiency of the car\u2019s battery and charging systems.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Back in 2021, racing driver Leh Keen accelerated a Porsche Taycan to 102.6 mph inside an exhibition hall in New Orleans, Louisiana, setting the record for the fastest speed driven in an enclosed building. And in 2020, Porsche Experience instructor Dennis Retera completed 210 laps in a Taycan at the PEC Hockenheimring, securing a world record for the longest drift with an electric vehicle at 26.2 miles.  <\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n
