It would be best if you had a supply of a few things in your kit other than a full tank of gas and fresh antifreeze:  

  • Blankets, mittens, socks, and hats  
  • Flashlight, plus extra batteries (or a hand-crank flashlight)  
  • First-aid kit (band-aids, antiseptic wipes, adhesive tape, gauze pads, antiseptic cream, medical wrap)  
  • Ice scraper and snow brush  
  • Jumper cables

  • Road flares or reflective warning triangles
