ABOUT THIS VEHICLE
The original chassis is a 1973 Karman Ghia that received a Red 9 Design EZ Rider twin wishbone front suspension kit featuring adjustable SPAX coil overs as well as rack and pinion steering. The stock VW rear suspension was completely rebuilt and received upgrades including urethane bushings and KYB shock absorbers. The car is fitted with CSP Germany disc brakes on the front including braided stainless brake hoses and '73 - '74 VW Thing 5 Lug drum brakes on the rear including braided stainless brake hoses as well. Custom made wheels by Tru-Design wear 16"x7" Diamond Black White Wall tires to enhance the drive and overall appeal of the exterior. A Pro-Street transaxle transmission assembly features a 3.88 ring and pinion, HD Super Diff, aluminum side cover, welded 3-4 hubs, and hardened keys. The axle shafts are restored OE VW axles with German CV joints and boots. The shifter assembly is a restored OE VW shifter with custom made knob. The chassis has been completely painted to showcase quality and the rear suspension has been powder coated for durability and cleanliness. The brake system received a dual-circuit German FTE master cylinder conversion and Sway-A-Way rear torsion bars were installed for improved drivability.
The engine is a 2007cc flat four air-cooled engine producing an estimate 115 - 125hp. The engine case is a new genuine VW magnesium case machined for 90.5 / 92mm cylinders, 84mm crankshaft, and full flow oiling. The engine received extensive upgrades including CNC match-ported heads and manifolds, CB Performance serpentine belt system, full-flow oiling system with braided stainless hoses, welded and balanced cooling fan, external oil filter, and external oil cooler with electric fan and thermostat. Internal upgrades included DPR Machine crankshaft, rebuilt VW connecting rods stroker clearanced by DPR Machine, forged Mahle 90.5mm pistons and cylinders, Engle 120 camshaft, CB Performance Los Panchito cylinder heads, Schadek 30mm full-flowed oil pump, CB Performance Slim-Line oil sump, and CB Performance forged rocker shafts with solid center section. A CB Performance Magnaspark ignition system was installed as well as a Vintage Speed stainless steel sport muffler with twin tips and Kennedy stage 1 with Sachs solid clutch disc assembly that has been balanced.
Since completion the Karman Ghia has been driven fewer than 600 miles which makes this very special car an amazing opportunity for a new or established collection or someone that has always wanted a show winning Karman Ghia to tour the country in.
