ABOUT THIS VEHICLE
Exterior condition of the VW may be cleaner and straighter than how the van came out of the factory. After metal work completion the van was painted in its original Senegal Red with Pastel White top. New window moldings, emblems, and scripts were installed as well as having paint protection film installed on the front of the van to protect the new paint finish from elements of the road. Genuine VW H4 headlight assemblies were installed and genuine VW NOS rear light lenses were also installed. The crank-type metal sunroof was restored for reuse as well as the original painted German bumpers. Custom gravel guard protection film was installed behind all 4 tires and additional pain protection film was installed inside the lower from doors, upper door corners, rocker panels, sliding door entry, and rear hatch entry.
The interior was restored to original condition using original style black square weave vinyl and horse hair seat padding. The original steering wheel was restored as well as the original VW instruments. A new wiring harness was installed and new control cables, plastic guides, and seals for the metal sunroof were installed. A Pioneer radio with Bluetooth and iPhone control capability was installed with new speakers to enhance the in-cabin experience. Additional interior upgrades included second skin sound deadening on inner panels, ceiling, and floor was installed, door panels were restored using stock black vinyl, a custom German square weave carpet mat was installed in the rear cargo area, and new modern seat belts were installed for driver and passenger seats as well as rear seat passengers.
Chassis restoration included front suspension using new OE VW components and KYB shocks. The rear suspension was also restored using stock VW components and new KYB shocks. Front brakes are stock VW disc brakes using new German components and rear brakes are stock VW drum brakes using new German components. The wheels are stock VW 14x5.5" that have been powder coated silver wearing Hankook RA18 Vanguard 8-ply tires. The axle shafts are restored OE VW axles with German CV joints and boots. The Shifter has been restored and currently fitted with a custom shift knob. Upgraded chassis modifications include powder coated rear suspension, sway-a-way rear torsion bars, heavy duty 7/8" Empi front sway bar with urethan bushings, and a new brake booster.
The engine is a stock 2.0L flat four air-cooled engine that was originally built by Fast German Auto in 2001 that produces an estimated 70hp. The engine has been resealed including pushrod tubes, oil pump, oil filter mount, oil cooler, breather box, pulley, rear main seal, flywheel o-ring, and fuel injectors. New vacuum lines were installed and the engine sheet metal was powder coated. The engine features Mahle 94mm pistons and cylinders and stock OE VW engine case, crank shaft, connecting rods, camshaft for hydraulic lifters, cylinder heads, and ignition distributor with Compu-Fire electronic module.
